Connective tissue massage

The connective tissue massage is a reflexotherapy based on the links between the nervous system and the cutaneous tissues (skin). The human body, by the structure of the nervous system, is staged in blades, each nerve root in the spine, corresponds to the cutaneous dermatome (in the skin).

Therefore, there is a physiognomic link between the nervous system and the corresponding innervated tissue stages, in the skin, muscles, viscera, joints, vessels, and so on. This means that there is a direct connection between the organs or other structures of the body and the skin. Therefore, through this technique, it becomes possible to see and feel, at the level of the skin, the underlying organic dysfunctions.

The movements of this massage provoke as a cut in the tissues, it is the reflex arc sent to the nervous system. This creates regulation and rebalancing at the organic and skin level. This massage releases the tissues and brings a deep and immediate relaxation.

Brief History

This technique was discovered during the twentieth century by Elizabeth Dicke and Dr. Hede teirich Leube, and by Henri Jarricot and Sir Henry Head. These 2 groups of people developed distinct but complementary connective tissue massage techniques.

Running of the sessions

The massage of the connective tissue acts on the nervous system, so it is very important to stabilize this system during the first 3 consultations, before undertaking any therapeutic approach, although the stabilization of the nervous system is in itself a therapy.

During the consultations, observation and palpation of the skin at the level of the back and the abdomen are necessary for objectification of the dysfunctions, as well as for the implementation of the treatment. Observation and palpation are performed on the patient sitting on the table.

In summary, it is necessary to stabilize the nervous system during the first 3 sessions. The following sessions allow the treatment of the problem(s) encountered. The commitment to such a therapy is essential to its smooth running.

The benefits of the connective tissue massage

This technique is practiced in the following cases (non-exhaustive list):

  1. all observable organic dysfunctions
  2. scar treatment
  3. applicable in many diseases
  4. ...

Effects after a session

The effects of massage are deeply felt. There are reactions during the session, the first being the cutaneous reaction related to the "line" performed on the skin, this reaction is transcribed into redness on the skin, it is completely normal, and attests to an optimal reaction of the body. Other reactions include, perspiration, fatigue, heat, etc.

After the session, there can also be a great fatigue. This is perfectly normal, the body needs time to manage the impulses transmitted with this technique and to allow the rebalancing of the treated systems.
